My Final Post

Coral Park, its been a great 4 years for me with you guys. This will be my final post to this site. I wish you all well in your future endeavors and know that all of you will strive for Excellence always. Go Rams!

Ramapalooza Concert!

Thursday, June 2 at 7:00pm marks the final Band of Gold Concert of the season! Please join us in this action packed concert featuring, the wind ensemble, jazz band, symphonic band, guard, various solos & ensembles topped off with the marching band. Tickets go on sale Wednesday May 25, $4 cost when bought pre-sale, $5 cost at the door! We hope you can join us in this spectacular event featuring music from the Phantom of the Opera by Weber, Council Oak by David Gillingham and Chameleon as recorded by Maynard Fergueson among other great works!

Sunday, May 15th 7-11:00pm at Royal Ballrooms, 1405 SW 107th Avenue, Suite 212 marks our annual banquet. We have worked extra hard to make it a night to remember! Tickets on sale in the band room for $30 each. Many special guests attending and special announcements will be made!!! See you all there.

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations to the Band of Gold's Wind Ensemble! You guys performed amazingly last week at State Concert Band Evaluations where you earned yourselves a straight Superior rating. Not only did you achieve this great honor, but you also earned the school's 3rd Otto J. Krausshaar Memorial Award. I'm super proud of all of you and look forward to our first "Ram-a-palooza" Spring Concert on June 2, 7-9:30pm.

2010 Falcon Sound Invitational Meeting!

Parents, this weekend marks our first competition of the year. As such, we are having a parent meeting to help organize and prepare for Saturday's event by meeting this Friday after the marching band's rehearsal at 7pm. Please plan on attending this meeting if you would like to help out, we need your support. Thank you.

General Band Parent Meeting

Parents, our first meeting of the new school year is next week Wednesday Sept. 1 at 7pm! Please join us  as our calendar has been altered quite a bit. Our first football game will be on Saturday Sept. 4 at Tropical park at 7pm. We need parental help!

The Domino's Pizza Cards have arrived! Be sure to get yours from Mr. Camacho as soon as possible.

Pizza Card Fundraiser

The Domino's Pizza Card Fundraiser has begun! Please follow-up with your student. Their goal is to sell 12 cards by next week Tuesday, August 10. Take the order form to work, and sell, sell, sell. Every penny earned is helping your student achieve their goal in donations!

2010-2011 Band Camp Schedule

Week 1 - August 2-6, from 8:30am-5:00pm
Week 2 - August 10-12 (Tues.-Wed.), from 8:30am-1:00pm
Week 3 - August 16-20, from 8:30am-5:00pm

Friday, August 20th is our Pot Luck Dinner/Performance at 5:30 pm. The students will perform on our field from 5:30-6:00pm, dinner will begin when the students are packed-up and are in the cafeteria. Please bring an entree, a soda, or a desert to share with others. Please come early or send the food with your child so that we will have time to set-up the tables with the items. This is the final event of our band camp. Please coem and support your children.

I hope the year has faired well for all of you. I have a request for all of you in reference to our composite photo. In order to recieve our composite for free, we were required to have 35 orders made by CP families. We fell short of that number and we find ourselves in a position that requires us to pay for our composite. If we were able to get more students to purchase a picture package we could lower that cost or eliminate is all together. 2nd Mandatory Band Parent Meeting

Greetings parents! I hope this message finds you well. Just wanted to let you know that we are having our 2nd most important band parent meeting on Thursday June 17, 2010 starting at 6pm in the band room. We require in attendance all  parents involved with marching band students. We'll see you there for this very important meeting.

Mandatory Band Parent Meeting

Greetings parents! I hope this message finds you well. Just wanted to let you know that we are having one of our most important band parent meetings on Tuesday May 25 starting at 6pm in the band room. We welcome all new parents to our organization as well as our returning parents. Students are welcome as well. Hope to see you there for this very important meeting.

Parents, it is with much regret that I inform you that the Rams Band Parent Association, Inc. is no longer associated with the Miami Coral Park SHS Band of Gold. Please remit any payments to the Band of Gold Parent Association, Inc. The BGPA, Inc. is Miami Coral Park SHS's newest and only band booster association. If you have any questions please contact the band director at 305-226-6565 during school hours. The new board was selected and voted on by parents whom attended an emergency meeting in early February. Our new booster president is Eddie Gonzalez, vice president Maritza Fasco, secretary Rosie Gonzalez and treasurer Maria Garcia.

2010 Concert Band Music Evaluations

The Wind Ensemble participated in this year's Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessments for concert bands at Barabara Goleman SHS. The band was awarded an overall Superior Rating and has now qualified for state music performance assessments. Congratulations to the hard working students of the Band of Gold, now its time to really concentrate and perform at another level! 

2010 South Florida Honor Band

Five of our very own Band of Gold students have been selected to participate in this year's South Florida Honor Band hosted by the University of Miami Frost School of Music. These students will be rehearsing and putting on a concert from February 12-13. The students selected were:

2010 Jazz Band Music Evaluations

The Concert Jazz Band at Miami Coral Park SHS has earned a straight Superior rating at this year's Jazz Band Music Performance Assessments. The event took place at Barbara Goleman SHS on Friday January 29, 2010. In addition, 13 Superior medals were awarded to instrumentalists for Superior performances on solo and ensemble music. The jazz band, soloists and small ensembles have all qualified to perform at the State evaluations in April at Taravela HS. Winter Concert

The annual Band of Gold Winter Concert will be taking place Thursday, December 10, 2009 in the Coral Park Auditorium at 7:00pm. This concert will highlight the Keyboard, Eurhythmics, Wind Ensemble & Jazz Band Classes. Entrance cost is $5. Baked goods & drinks will be on sale during intermissions.

Selections being performed include: "Sleigh Ride," Winter Wonderland," music from Dr. Seuss' original "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" special and much, much more.

2009 Marching Band Evaluations

The Band of Gold performed at the Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessments this past Saturday at Traz Powell Stadium, located on the Miami Dade College North Campus. This event is considered the music FCAT’s for marching bands. The marching band was awarded 5 Superior ratings and awarded an overall Superior rating, the equivalent to straight “A’s.” Over 30 high schools participated from Miami-Dade County. We still have one more competition two weeks from now at the Florida Marching Band Competition Semi-Finals in St. Petersburg, FL! These kids have done an amazing job and have represented CP in the most mature & professional way possible. I hope they make you as proud of them as I am.
